TONIGHT: Black Moon 2016 – What It Is (and Why You Can’t See It)

Updated for 9/30: Friday’s sky (Sept. 30) is host to a somewhat unusual lunar event in the Western Hemisphere: a second new moon in a single month, which some people call a “Black Moon.”

While a full moon refers to the moment when the moon’s Earth-facing side is fully illuminated by sunlight, a new moon refers to the moment when the moon’s Earth-facing side is fully in shadow. (Unfortunately, that means the Black Moon will be more or less invisible, even if the moon is high in the sky).

The lunar calendar almost lines up with Earth’s calendar year, so there is typically one full moon and one new moon each month. A second full moon in a single calendar month is sometimes called a “Blue Moon.” A Black Moon is supposedly the flip side of a Blue Moon: the second new moon in a single calendar month. The next Black Moon takes place on Sept. 30 (in the Western Hemisphere).

From the Western Hemisphere, the new moon occurring on Friday, Sept. 30, is a Black Moon. Officially, it occurs at 8:11 p.m. Eastern Time (5:11 p.m. Pacific Time).

For the Eastern Hemisphere (Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia), this new moon occurs after midnight on the calendar date of Oct. 1. So for this part of the world, this particular new moon is not the second one in the calendar month, but rather, the first! So it does not qualify as a Black Moon, and that hemisphere will have to wait until the end of the month for theirs. Indeed, for the billions living in the Eastern Hemisphere, the Black Moon will arrive on Oct. 30 or, if you live in eastern Asia, Japan, Australia or New Zealand, not until Oct. 31 (Halloween).

The Black Moon is a somewhat unusual celestial event — they occur about once every 32 months.

Slooh Community Observatory will host a webcast Monday, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. EDT (1900 GMT) to show live views of the young moon, viewable on their website and also on Space.com. The webcast will feature discussion with special guests including Slooh’s spiritual correspondent Helen Avery, who will discuss the Black Moon’s significance to pagan religion, and there will also be a discussion of how to define the Black Moon when dealing with multiple time zones.

At its “new moon” phase, the moon is always black. It happens at that time of the month when the moon passes through the same part of the sky as the sun and as such, the moon’s dark or unilluminated side faces Earth. So there really is nothing to see.

Actually, that’s not always true, since there are times when the new moon passes directly between Earth and the sun and Earthlings can then see the moon’s black silhouette crossing in front of the sun, causing a solar eclipse. That, in fact, actually happened with this month’s first new moon, on Sept. 1, creating an annular eclipse (also known as a “Ring of Fire Eclipse”) over parts of Africa.

If you have ever wondered where the term “new moon” originated, it simply refers to the start of a new lunar cycle. The time frame from one new moon to the next is called a synodic month, which, on average, lasts 29.53 days. This is the period of the moon’s phases, because the moon’s appearance depends on the position of the moon with respect to the sun as seen from the Earth. The word “synodic” is derived from the Greek word sunodikos, which means “meeting,” for at new moon, the moon “meets” the sun.

But unlike a “supernoon” which gets countless numbers of people scurrying for vantage points to see a slightly larger and slightly brighter-than-average full moon, with a Black Moon, you simply can’t see it. In my opinion, this is the chief reason why Black Moon is going to have a tough time in becoming a popular media brand.

A couple of evenings later, however, on Oct. 2, you’ll be able to pick out a slender sliver of a waxing crescent moon low in the western twilight sky about 30 or 40 minutes after sunset local time. That will also mark the start of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year 5777. And the following day (Oct. 3) is the Islamic New Year 1438, on the first day of Muharram, the first month in the lunar Islamic calendar.

Some people mistakenly refer to the appearance of any thin lunar crescent as the “new moon.” This fallacy has even spread into popular literature. In his classic work “A Night to Remember,” about the sinking of the Titanic, author Walter Lord quotes a fireman in a lifeboat who caught sight of a narrow crescent low in the dawn sky and exclaimed, “A new moon!”

As one who has been involved in the broadcasting field for nearly 40 years, I’d like to point out that we live in a time when the news media is seemingly obsessed with “branding.” This marketing strategy involves creating a differentiated name and image — often using a tagline — in order to establish a presence in people’s mind. In recent years in the field of astronomy, for example, we’ve seen annular eclipses — those cases when the moon is too small to completely cover the disk of the sun — become branded as “Ring of Fire Eclipses.” A total eclipse of the moon — when the moon’s plunge through the Earth’s shadow causes the satellite to turn a coppery red color — is now referred to as a “Blood Moon.”

When a full moon is also passing through that part of its orbit that brings it closest to Earth — perigee — we now brand that circumstance as a supermoon. That term was actually conjured up by an astrologer back in 1979 but quite suddenly became a very popular media brand after an exceptionally close approach of a full moon to Earth in March 2011. It surprises me that even NASA now endorses the term, although it seems to me the astronomical community in general shies away from designating any perigee full moon as “super.”

Then there is Blue Moon. This moniker came about because a writer for Sky & Telescope Magazine misinterpreted an arcane definition given by a now-defunct New England Almanac for when a full moon is branded “blue,” and instead incorrectly reasoned that in a month with two full moons, the second is called a Blue Moon. That was a brand that quietly went unnoticed for some 40 years, until a syndicated radio show promoted the term in the 1980s and it then went viral. So now, even though the second full moon in a month is not the original definition for a Blue Moon, in popular culture we now automatically associate the second full moon in a calendar month with a Blue Moon.

So are you ready for yet another lunar brand? The newest one is Black Moon.

Moon is a ‘HOLOGRAM’ – Cameraman Claims ‘Lunar Wave’ He Filmed Proves It

Forget Blood Moons: A SKY watcher who spends hours filming the Moon with high-definition telescopic cameras says years of research has convinced him the ‘moon is a hologram’.

By Nerti U. Qatja@VOP_Today

Express.co.ukCrrow777 – A YouTube user has published a series of videos which crazily suggest the moon is a man-made illusion and covering something else up.

He developed the out of this world theory after he caught on camera something he calls a “lunar wave” which he claims shows it is a hologram.

CCROW777

His latest video of a “lunar wave” to be posted online was filmed on Sunday, and he says he was able to predict when it would happen because they are “fixed events”.

Bizarrely YouTube user Ccrow777, of the Crow Discovery Project, said he is not alone in his theory the moon is not all it seems.

He said: “I am going to hit you in a way that is going make you think tin foil hat, but I’m not going to apologise for that.

“I have been at this for a long time, I have been relentless in my research and in filming and observing the moon and everything that happens and it is true, from the people I have talked to, and there are other people talking about the moon being a hologram, and quite a few people are aware of this.

“Quite a few people are aware of this. I am not the discoverer of this it is a well known event by now

“I made this announcement knowing full well the trouble that will follow – but I did it anyway because it is true and effects every living being on this planet.”

It has been suggested it is a malfunction or illusion within the camera, but Ccrow777 argues he ruled that out because the wave only affects the lunar surface and no other area in shot.

Others have suggested atmospheric pressure caused the effect – in a similar way to heat =haze or that it could be caused by engines of planes – two theories he also rejects.

A quick search online reveals a number of other sites, posts and videos where people suggest the moon is fake, an illusion, or created artificially.

People who viewed his videos have mixed opinions, with some buying into it.

But Jason Miller posted on the Ccrow777’s channel: “Have you ever thought how they would project a hologram everyday for the past thousands of years and follow the same schedule for thousands. It’s irrational to even think the moon is a hologram.”

RealityHijacked said: “I’d say that it’s some kind of electromagnetic interaction sweeping over the face of the moon and distorting the light field as it goes. I’m not too big into the whole “holographic moon” theory.”

While Nuno Patro added: “Have you considered it could be the refraction of a cold front or two layers of different atmospheric pressures?

Ccrow777

He claims after posting the footage online he was contacted by three individuals who claimed to have been in positions that meant they knew more than the general public, and the moon was indeed a hologram.

He then discovered former research by Russian scientists who speculate the Moon could be a huge artificial space station and the whole solar system could be fake.

Despite subscribing to such an extraordinary conspiracy theory, when interviewed Ccrow777 sounds completely rational.

He said: “My guess is it’s not just a rock in space, there is a lot going on up there. To me its clear now we live in an artificial system.

“If you look at moon maps no two ever match up. I have come to believe it is an illusion, and part of a control system we live in.”

When pressed on things like lunar eclipses, which are filmed all over the world, he maintains they are all faked.

He said: “It is all staged. There are hundreds of objects that transit the moon during an eclipse. There is a control system behind the moon and it is something to do with the sun. Is it the system we have been told about or is it another system?

“I predicted the next best chance to film a lunar wave would be between September 20 and 30 and low and behold it happened.

“I have known the truth about our moon for a little over one year. In that time I have re-confirmed what I know many times. When I saw the Russian research it not only confirmed what I had come to know – it was perfectly spot on and then some – equinoxes – wave times – everything.

UPDATED Moon Hologram – The Moon is Not What You Think

Real Time Travel – Will We Be Able To Go Back In Time ?

SCIENCE fiction fans dream of the day when humans will be able to travel in time. But will it ever become a reality?

By Nerti U. Qatja@VOP_Today

Will we ever be able to go forward in time?

Express.co.uk – Some believe that time travel is already possible. In fact, Dr Alastair Wilson of the University of Birmingham says that we already do so every day.

“Just by walking around we accelerate relative to our environment, which dilates time and causes us to effectively travel slightly faster than usual into the future,” he explains.

Dr Wilson is referring to Albert Einstein’s theory of special relativity, which states that as an object moves more quickly, time will appear to slow down.

Time travel

However, for an object to truly travel forward in time, the object would need to move at a pace approaching the speed of light – or 186,000 miles per second – an impossibility according to the laws of physics.

Another method of time travel that has been proposed is via a wormhole – a shortcut linking two different times and places.

Einstein theorised that space and time are woven together into a single continuum known as “spacetime”. A wormhole is said to occur when spacetime has been warped, creating a tunnel between two points.

Professor Stephen Hawking says that these shortcuts spring up everyday. He said that they “constantly form, disappear and reform, and they actually link two separate places and two different times”.

If physicists are on the right track then we never will be able to travel backwards in time

Dr Alastair Wilson

Unfortunately for wannabe time-travellers, these tunnels are just a “billion-trillion-trillionths of a centimetre across”, far too small for a human to enter.

While some scientists have theorised that these wormholes could be enlarged to let a human, or even a spaceship, pass through, Professor Hawking has ruled out them being used for time-travel.

Spaceship entering wormhole

Writing for the Daily Mail, he said: “As soon as the wormhole expands, natural radiation will enter it, and end up in a loop. The feedback will become so strong it destroys the wormhole.

“So although tiny wormholes do exist, and it may be possible to inflate one some day, it won’t last long enough to be of use as a time machine.”

Will we ever be able to go back in time?

While scientists continue to debate whether we will ever be able to travel forward in time, they are mainly in agreement that it is impossible to reverse the clock.

Dr Wilson explained: “We can’t yet travel backwards in time and if physicists are on the right track then we never will be able to.

“The energies required to even get close to bending time enough to create a spacetime loop would demolish any living thing that tried to traverse the loop.

“My own view is that physical laws are necessary truths, so if time travel is ruled out by physics, then it’s completely, 100% impossible.”

Many experts believe that travelling backward through time could create impossible paradoxes.

Professor Hawking explained a situation where a man travels backwards in time by one minute.

“Through the wormhole, the scientist can see himself as he was one minute ago. But what if he uses the wormhole to shoot his earlier self? He’s now dead. So who fired the shot? It just doesn’t make sense,” he wrote.

The paradox would violate a fundamental rule of physics – that cause some before effect.

Dr Wilson added: “So, no doubt to the relief of Express readers, people won’t ever be able to travel back in time to shoot their grandfathers or kill Hitler.”

The Earth Is Flat And You’ve Been Lied To, NASA/Illuminati Deception Exposed

Earlier today, rapper B.o.B. declared to his millions of Twitter followers that, despite everything they’ve been led to believe their entire lives, the earth is flat. And the weirdest part isn’t just that he believes the earth is flat, but that he’s not even remotely alone.

By Nerti U. Qatja@VOP_Today

The Earth Is Flat, Explained

There’s an entire Flat Earth Society that is 200 members strong and, purportedly, not a joke. In an interview with Live Science, the group’s vice president explained:

“The question of belief and sincerity is one that comes up a lot. If I had to guess, I would probably say that at least some of our members see the Flat Earth Society and Flat Earth Theory as a kind of epistemological exercise, whether as a critique of the scientific method or as a kind of ‘solipsism for beginners.’ There are also probably some who thought the certificate would be kind of funny to have on their wall. That being said, I know many members personally, and I am fully convinced of their belief.”

“My own convictions are a result of philosophical introspection and a considerable body of data that I have personally observed, and which I am still compiling.”

There are many (many) YouTube videos ready to open your eyes to the Truth, each of them special in their own way. This one I particularly like for its use of clip art and incorrect arithmetic:

Basically, the earth is a flat disc protected by an invisible barrier called “the firmament,” a dome-like feature that also happens to be referenced in the Old Testament so you know it’s real. Copernicus, of course, fucked everything up by introducing his theory of heliocentrism. Flat Earthers acknowledge that while Copernicus’s math was right, he lacked the technology necessary to definitively prove his theory. Still, the idea took hold, governments started preaching it, and a centuries-long lie was born.

Then as soon as Russia and U.S. managed to get rockets in the sky, they realized their error and quickly set about protecting the shameful secret at all costs. The Antarctic Treaty went into place in 1961, making it in “off-limits” to any wandering eyes.

It’s worth noting here that there’s also something called the “ice wall,” which is the towering expanse of maybe absolute zero, pitch black ice barriers at the edge of Antartica that may or may not go on forever and that no human could ever possibly explore.

Perhaps this will help explain:

Or not! Either way, that’s a story for another day.

So, to keep their incredible secret, NASA began faking all sorts of photo and video “evidence”: space launches, moon landings, Shuttle journeys—you name it. Its physicists and astronauts were sworn to secrecy,

https://youtu.be/cQt9vq3sdtQ

Boylan asserts that a large part of the reason the lie has gone on for so long is sheer hubris. In an interview titled “NASA Insider Exposes the Flat Earth!”, Boylan explains that “if I tell you [the shape of the Earth] is a certain thing, without having an instrument to prove it for over 1,000 years… if you’re wrong, are you going to tell everybody?”

What’s more, the extra land that comes along with a flat earth means more natural resources. And if word got out about the secret store of oil hiding at the edge of the Earth, any remaining notion of scarcity would be shattered.

Still, some questions remain. What about seasons, you might ask. To which a Flat Earther might say, Well what about this.

Or put another way:

Gravity is something that might also have thrown a wrench in the Flat Earther’s personal Truth—if it weren’t for something called universal acceleration, that is. You see, the world is constantly accelerating upwards, forcing everything else “down.” From the Flat Earth Wiki:

According to Flat Earth Theory, gravity does not exist. Instead, there is a force that produces identical effects as observed from the surface of the earth. This force is known as “Universal Acceleration” (abbreviated as UA).

Objects on the earth’s surface have weight because all sufficiently massive celestial bodies are accelerating upward at the rate of 9.8 m/s^2. The mass of the earth is thought to shield the objects atop it from the direct force of UA. Alternatively, it is possible that the force of UA can actually pass through objects, but its effect on smaller bodies is negligible (similar to gravity in RET cosmology, which only has a noticeable affect on very large objects).

None of the answers, of course, ever actually answer your question entirely, and more often than not they just open up a whole host of other questions. But such is the cost of finally waking from your conformist slumber.

Welcome to the world of Truth, friends and also B.o.B. And remember, just because the Earth is flat doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still watch out for the chemtrails.

BREAKING: NASA Finds HUGE CORONAL HOLE Open Up On Our Sun

SUN GOING DARK!!! NASA Finds HUGE CORONAL HOLE Open Up On Our Sun. Is the Sun Disintegrating?
Images of the sun usually show a burning ball of fire, shining bright in the sky. However, NASA has just released a stunning picture which captured the exact opposite – a giant dark area on the sun’s upper half.

By Nerti U. Qatja@VOP_Today

The image, snapped by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) from May 17-19, shows what is known as a “coronal hole” on the sun, described by the space agency as a “low-density region of the sun’s atmosphere, known as the cornea.”

Corneal holes are visible in certain types of extreme ultraviolet light, which is invisible to the human eye. NASA has colorized the picture in purple, for easy viewing.

Because they contain little solar material, they have lower temperatures and thus appear much darker than their surroundings.

“Coronal holes are visible in certain types of extreme ultraviolet light, which is typically invisible to our eyes, but is colorised here in purple for easy viewing.”

NASA says the huge hole is actually not of great concern, but it remains unclear why the coronal holes actually form.

But it does mean that large amounts of solar winds, that cause the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights to form, have been blasted to Earth. The image, snapped by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) from May 17-19, shows what is known as a “coronal hole” on the sun, described by the space agency as a “low-density region of the sun’s atmosphere, known as the cornea.” While it’s unclear what causes coronal holes, they correlate to areas on the sun where magnetic fields soar up and away, without looping back down to the surface, as they do elsewhere. These would weak havoc with our communications and blast us with cancer-causing UV rays, if it were not for the Earth’s magnetosphere which shields us from them.

The spokesman added: “These coronal holes are important to understanding the space environment around Earth through which our technology and astronauts travel.

“Coronal holes are the source of a high-speed wind of solar particles that streams off the sun some three times faster than the slower wind elsewhere.
